Moong Dal Chilla

Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup yellow moong dal (soaked for 3–4 hours)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 green chilli (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)
  • 1 small carrot (grated, optional)
Spices & Seasoning
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper (optional)
  • 1–2 tsp oil or ghee for cooking
  • Water as needed for batter consistency
For Serving
  • Mint chutney
  • Tomato ketchup
  • Curd or yogurt dip
  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

  • Drain the soaked moong dal and blend into a smooth batter with little water
  • Mix onions, green chilli, coriander, carrot, and all spices into the batter
  • Heat a non-stick pan and lightly grease it with oil or ghee
  • Pour batter onto the pan and spread into a thin circular chilla
  • Cook until golden and crispy on both sides
  • Serve hot with mint chutney, curd, or tomato ketchup
